Everything written in these reviews about Ms. Journey is absolutely true !!
I hired her back in January for divorce settlement negotiations which I just lost on default as well as a significant amount of money. Alicia has made her own experiences very public which is why I hired her in the first place. I figured I could trust someone who has been through similar situations herself. Unfortunately I made a terrible mistake Alicia is no hero she does a good job of playing one though. Did I mention she knew my Autistic son was losing his childhood home on June 29th. Again she was hired back in January so I could focus on the sale of our property and on getting my son through a divorce. Alicia's actions literally almost had us homeless as proceeds from the sale were being withheld until a settlement was reached. I agreed under duress and the situation concluded without her involvement as she continued making herself unavailable. It absolutely blew my mind when she asked for $800 more dollars after the trauma she had already caused. I honestly expected some form of apology from her especially considering she claims her poor health is the reason why she couldn't do her job. Instead she acted like none of this was her doing it was somehow my fault. She was provided with every piece of information she needed from me twice. First in March then again in June because she never filed anything.
She also tried putting me in touch with a man named Mike who I thought was another attorney of some sort. Thankfully I didn't engage with him the few times he made contact beyond asking his purpose.
I never did receive a response !!
Apparently I won't be receiving any sort of refund as Alicia feels she did her job.
I will be reporting this situation to the bar association in greater detail (as I was directed by another attorney).
Hopefully they can stop her game before anyone else gets taken advantage of.

Do not hire her as an attorney. She took on my small claims case after I had filed all the necessary paperwork myself and already had a court date. I paid Alicia $2500 to appear in court on my behalf I spoke to her twice for 15mins each time. I received nothing from her office as to the “work she put in”. The day of court 1hr before she court she tells me that she is not allowed to appear for small claims cases as of she didn’t know that after years of being an attorney. I had to appear on my own behalf. Alicia told me she would reimburse me the monies since she wasn’t allowed to appear for these types of cases. Several weeks went by and I followed up with her about the refund she promised me, I guess she got irritated with me asking her about the reimbursement and said she would only refund me $700 and I had to pay for the time she put in. I offered to pay half and she still refunded me only $700. She did not deserve any of what I paid her. I have reported her to the state bar and waiting to hear back. She does not care about her clients. If I could post without any stars I would!

Alicia Journey is the worst attorney possible. She espouses that she helps women in abusive situations. I retained her. She failed to show up at a hearing which was a violation of her Professional Responsibility as well as Legal Malpractice. Her failure to appear resulted in Opposing Counsel getting Sanctions against me which he did so by perjury. Alicia Journey had the obligation to write a motion to fight said sanctions that would not have been issued had she appeared and which she was told to appear for also. Furthermore, Alicia Journey then offered to do three motions at her cost for the paralegal. In the midst of writing said motions, two of which I should not have even paid her costs for as they were necessary due to her Malpractice, Alicia Journey dropped me as her client and never filed them. She also refused to provide me with two of the three motions she had prepared. Rather, she sent me only a small portion of them which could have been easily downloaded by me. She failed to send me the factual information to support said motions which were already prepared. DO NIT HIRE HER or YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY. She is a liar and a horrible attorney. She does not care about people abused in their marriages. She has further compromised my divorce proceedings and left me in a real bad predicament. Hopefully, Karma will return the favor she extended me.

I am honestly amazed that Alicia Journey is ACTUALLY an attorney - I thought I'd been scammed. I reached out for legal advice on filing and serving a spouse in another country for an uncontested divorce. Alicia called me herself after I got some cheap legal advice online - I don't know how she got my number. I told her I couldn't afford to hire an attorney and that we weren't fighting over assets and had very little anyway, and she said that everyone should get legal help, and offered her paralegal for $150. The contract promised to file, work through the problems I was having with serving him out of the country, and all of my questions would be answered and they wouldn't stop until it was filed. I got a few calls from a couple of paralegals that didn't seem to know what they were doing. I'd wait for 2 weeks and finally hear back from someone, and they'd still sound confused and chaotic. There were staff turnovers at least twice. It took 2 months and finally I got an email from Alicia herself 'making sure everything got handled'. I said NO, not even a little. I reminded her of what she'd promised in THE CONTRACT (and shared a copy), and she said she'd obviously made a mistake, but would uphold her end of the deal (but was extremely rude in the email). ANOTHER two months later, she sent an email saying she had personal problems and was going to refund my money. I waited for a total of nearly 4 months which created so many more complications than I'd started with. I had to leave the country and never got my husband served before I left. She was rude, condescending, unprofessional, and inept. I almost started to suspect she has a mental illness - like she doesn't remember one moment to the next what she's done or said, and has a chaotic life - I honestly don't even know how to write this review. It was the single most unpleasant professional experience of my life, and it cost me dearly. I won't be able to get divorced until next year because I'm now out of the country until summer. She knew I was leaving in January when I first reached out in November. She could not have cared less about the problems she caused me. It wasn't about the $150 she refunded, it was the time I'll never get back and the complications that lost time has caused me. Do yourself a favor - find ANY other attorney. She's not well and needs help, and should not be trying to help people.
